She’s learning how to use the camera on herPhotocube new Chromebook by taking zoomed in photos of facial features for a Photocube art project (http://bighugelabs.com/cube.php)! 6th grade students used the South Park Website (http://www.sp-studio.de/) to create their own South Park character modeled after themselves.

Once their character was complete, students created a screenshot using the Nimbus Extension (Inastuctions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fJOs4wBL52m50GetIU03Z_FdHebdIVN-R63dncQT-1Y/edit?usp=sharing) and then upload it to their Google Drive and put it into the shared Art Class folder.

6th grade students visited creative thinking website http://www.feedthehead.net/ Feed The Head is an entertaining and bizarre flash game that challenges you to make the head grow hair, breathe fire, and run all while using your creative mind to problem solve the ending.

6th grade students studied Abstract Art (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abstract_art) and used straws and ink to create a black and white Abstract work of art of their own. Student then learned about Color Theory (http://www.colormatters.com/color-and-design/basic-color-theory) in order to select a color motif  to add color using markers and pattern however they wished to their abstract creation.

Clay6th grade students made their clay marionettes more realistic by adding various colors of Underglaze (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underglaze) to coat and color their unfired clay marionettes from last week. These pieces will be fired in the kiln which will turn the under glaze into solid color so that the items can be created into toys.

6th graders learned about artists Leo Sewell (http://www.leosewell.net/) and Robert Bradford (http://www.robertbradford.co.uk) which introduced them to the Washed Ashore Project (http://www.washedashore.org). Students then used their recycled junk brought in from home to create their own animal junk sculptures with a partner. 6th grade students sculpted clay marionettes after watching a street theater performance done by the Royal de Luxe; a French mechanical marionette street theatre company (http://www.thesultanselephant.com/about/royaldeluxe.php).

6th grade students put themselves in the shoes of artist Edvard Munch, as well as the ever famous character from his Scream Painting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scream) and created their own modern version of the scream.
