8th grade students studied American contemporary artist Jasper Johns ( Jasper Johns believes that even though we use numbers and letters every day, we don’t really think about them. Jasper Johns wanted us to look at symbols, numbers, letters, etc., as details and see them in a new way, as art! Considering such, he made paintings which focused on just that; symbols, numbers, letters, etc. He decided he was going to use them in his paintings so that people could enjoy their shapes. 8th graders did the same thing by selecting letters, numbers and symbols that meant something to them to create their own trompe l’oeil painting.

Students in E.A.T. have been collecting bottle caps all year in order to make an artsy mural. After sorting the variety of colored caps collected, they decided to create their their own Starry Night Mural for our library. Just recently they start gluing the caps and it is looking super colorful. If you have more caps to donate, please drop them off in the art room as we will make sure to find a use for them!
