U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 invited students in 8th grade to participate in the “Green and Healthy Schools Art Challenge.” The contest asks students to draw or design “what makes their school green and healthy or what could make their school green and healthy.” The instructions for the drawings suggested that in addition to getting middle-school students to think about what makes a school green and healthy, the drawings will be educational for EPA, teachers and parents as they will show us what our children think about environmental protection and environmental health and safety in the school environment. View all of the students’ creations on Artsonia at:
A winner from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin will be chosen based on the most creative and representative drawings/design of green schools and featured on EPA’s website. Winners will receive a plaque and other prizes. A certificate will be awarded to each student who enters.
